is key researcher at SBA Research and Associate Professor at the TU Wien.
His research focuses on value-based software engineering, empirical software engineering, collaboration in software engineering, software quality management & software engineering process improvement, engineering environment and engineering knowledge integration, production automation systems simulation and test and application: Event-based systems for monitoring and coordination of engineering and operating heterogeneous software-intensive systems.
Stefan Biffl is an Associate Professor of software engineering at the Institute of Software Technology and Interactive Systems, TU Wien.
He received master and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the TU Wien and a master’s degree in Social and Economic Sciences from the University of Vienna. In 2001 Stefan received an Erwin-Schrödinger research scholarship and spent one year as researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute of Experimental Software Engineering (headed by Dieter Rombach), focusing on quality management and empirical software engineering. Also, in 2001 he received the habilitation degree (Venia Docendi) in Praktische Informatik for work on empirical software engineering in project management and quality management. In 2006 he worked as guest researcher at Czech Technical University, Department of Cybernetics (headed by Vladimir Marik). Since 2010 he is the head of a Christian Doppler research laboratory.
