Addressing students, researchers, and young technology innovators, Thurlow shared her personal experience of surviving the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and reflected on more than eight decades of advocacy for nuclear disarmament. Her powerful message resonated throughout the event:
“Remember your own humanity.”
The program also featured the Austrian premiere of the documentary The Vow from Hiroshima, followed by discussions on ethics, responsible innovation, and the role of technology in building more peaceful and resilient societies.
The event highlighted the importance of placing human dignity, lived experience, and ethical responsibility at the center of technological development. By bringing together peacebuilders, researchers, and the next generation of innovators, the PeaceTech Alliance, AIT, and SBA Research reaffirmed their shared commitment to ensuring that technology serves people – and contributes to a safer, more peaceful future.
