The article highlights an ongoing campaign attributed to the hacker group APT28 (also known as “Fancy Bear”), which has compromised thousands of routers worldwide – particularly devices from TP-Link – in order to intercept sensitive data such as login credentials.
In his expert commentary, Sebastian explains how attackers exploit vulnerabilities in router configurations, specifically targeting DNS settings. By manipulating these settings, malicious actors can redirect users to fraudulent websites and capture authentication data without their knowledge.
He further emphasizes that all devices connected to a compromised router automatically inherit the manipulated DNS configuration – making such attacks especially powerful and difficult to detect.
The media appearance underlines SBA Research’s role in providing expert insight into current cybersecurity threats and contributing to public awareness on emerging attack vectors affecting both individuals and organizations.
