Overview
Application containerization has become a standard technology in modern IT environments. Compared to traditional runtime environments, containers can provide significant security benefits through improved isolation, portability, and resource management.
However, as with any technology, these advantages must be carefully balanced against new security challenges and risks. Fully leveraging the potential security benefits of containers requires a comprehensive understanding of the underlying technologies, their security mechanisms, and their limitations.
Practical hands-on exercises complement the theoretical content of the workshop, enabling participants to develop a deeper understanding of container security concepts and supporting the effective application of these principles in real-world environments.
About the Speakers
Andreas Boll is a Senior Consultant at SBA Research. Through penetration testing, threat modeling, and software development lifecycle (SDLC) analyses, he supports organizations in systematically strengthening their IT security, with a particular focus on web applications, CI/CD pipelines, and container infrastructures. As a trainer, he provides practical guidance on how teams can integrate security into their development processes in a sustainable and effective manner.
Mathias Tausig is a trained mathematician with professional experience as a Security Officer, developer, system administrator, and lecturer in IT security at a university of applied sciences. He currently works as a Security Consultant, focusing on areas including penetration testing, security training, and application security. As a speaker, he has presented at various renowned technology and security conferences, including heise devSec, sec4dev, WeAreDevelopers, Linuxwochen, and CCC Easterhegg.
