Markus Maier

is researcher at SBA Research.

Research Interests

Markus’ current research focuses on network security and the underlying infrastructure of modern networks. He conducts large scale measurements in both IPv4 and IPv6. This includes global traceroute measurements that resulted into his last work about routing loops.

Bio

Markus received his bachelor’s degree in Software & Information Engineering as well as his master’s degree in Software Engineering & Internet Computing from TU Wien. For his bachelor thesis he focused on the visualization of mobile phone base stations via software defined radios. During his master, he switched to active network measurements and joined Team ERIS as a junior researcher. Together with his colleagues, he maintains the Austrian Internet Measurements Platform. His master thesis laid the groundwork for the measurements and detection algorithms for his work on routing loops on both IPv4 and IPv6.
