Research Interests
Tomasz’ research focuses on reproducibility of eScience experiments and machine-actionable data management plans. Topics of interests include, but are not limited to: experiment context modelling, verification and validation, auditability, provenance, data repository architectures and workflows, digital curation, FAIR data, and digital preservation.
Bio
Tomasz Miksa is a senior researcher at SBA Research. His research interests include machine-actionable data management plans, reproducibility of computational experiments, provenance, and interoperability of research data management systems. His recent work addresses data sovereignty and consent-based access to personal data that is shared and processed in secure data platforms.
He received his MSc in systems and computer networks from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology in 2011 and his PhD in computer science from TU Wien in 2016. In his PhD he focused on verification and validation of scientific workflow re-executions.
At SBA Research he worked on digital preservation of business processes in the EU FP7 project TIMBUS, on cost models for digital curation in the EU FP7 project 4C, on privacy-preserving analysis of sensitive data in the FFG project WellFort, and on machine learning for landslide prediction in the FFG KIRAS project gAIa. He has also led technical work in national projects that built research data infrastructures and services, among them FAIR Data Austria and Shared RDM, and he currently acts as technical coordinator of the Horizon Europe project OSTrails.
He co-chairs the DMP Common Standards working group and the Active Data Management Plans interest group at the Research Data Alliance, is a co-founder and treasurer of RDA Austria, and is a member of the Technical and Semantic Interoperability task force of the EOSC Association. At TU Wien he teaches courses on data stewardship and research data management.
